Asake is a verified beast!
Steady bangers left and right, over the last few months, it’s safe to say that he knows what he’s doing, and he does it incredibly well.
Welcome to a whole new series here at Afro Teens. This is Music Review
“Ololade mi Asake”
Once you hear Ahmed Ololade Asake’s catchphrase, prepare to Gbese.
Mr Money is not at all a new player to this music game as most peple would assume. With viral songs such as; “Mon Cheri” and “Lady”, under his belt , he’s considered one of Naija’s fast rising stars.
Let’s check out his most recent, popular tracks.
- Omo Ope (feat. Olamide)
Won so’ pe kin malo sun le…..
One of the earliest hits this year was a collaboration with the legend; Olamide Bado. Literally a Child of Grace, this smash hit proved his skills.
- Sungba (feat. Burna Boy) – Remix
Tell me what you see what you look at me.
When we see Asake we see greatness. When the news broke out that THE Burna was hopping on the remix, the whole world knew it was going to be mad. Sungba is one of those songs that you must always dance to. From Tiktok to the Gram, this song was still and still is a trend.
- PALAZZO (Spinall & Asake)
The thing about Mr Money is that he doesn’t give us comrades time to rest. Before you know it there’s another one to stream agressively.
Palazzo, jiggy, gb’oja, k’ole reason was another trend setter. Remember that challenge where group of friends made videos of themselves trying to recite the lyrics. Na where we get that remix, palazzo, jiggy, burger. If you can sing this song correctly from start to finish , give yourself a pat on the back, because you are a real one.
- Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)
Cause you dey para pass your mother
Asake dey carry me go where I no know. In the first hour of its music video release, it got a hefty 10k views. Fast forward 23 hours later, and we get 1.2 million views. If that’s not crazy, I don’t know what else is. This is simply because Asake is a complete mood. Still one of the top 10 songs on the Nigerian streaming charts, PBUY is another one for the record books.
- Bandana (Fireboy DML & Asake)
On this side we have Fireboy, on the other our fav Asake. When we mix the two we get a piping hot infectious jam session. From the Peru crooner’s smooth vocals and the sheer force of Asake’s essence we have yet another banger.
Na the love wey I see na hin wey give me liver
Criticisms
The most common and popular one is that you can sense the same beats with his recent songs. Some might say the vibe is loosing its individuality and originality. Or that a fresh new sound is needed. We say, you find something that smashes everytime, stick to it.
There’s a lot to expect from Asake in the coming months. In the past week or so, he released a snippet of what promises (you guessed as much ) to be a vibe; Terminator. His meteoric rise is undisputedly deserving of his talents. Mr Money With The Vibe #MMWTV is on the horizon, get your dance moves and shoes in anticipation.
